Obituary

Norma L. (Willyard) Ledesma, age 88, of Temple passed away on Sunday October 20, 2019, at the Wellington nursing home. She was born to the late John P. and Nokie N. Willyard, May 12, 1931, in Gore, Oklahoma.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Wanda Blakemore, Juanita Merrit, and Sara Brown; two brothers, Dub and Ray Willyard; one son, Dana Tim Ledesma; and two great granddaughters Payton and Rayah.

Norma is survived by six children: Ronald Willyard, Alfredo Ledesma, Ernest Ledesma, Deborah Ledesma, Gilbert Ledesma, and Lana Kim Kanik. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren; Troy and Tracey Willyard, Kyle Ledesma, Alyssa Roberson, Kirstie Pena, Angela Cox, Teresa Wilt, Daniel Hernandez, Michael and Stephen Hernandez, Christopher Ledesma, Alexis Vittitoe, Lauren Gregory, Ethan Ledesma, Katie and Emily Ledesma, and Sara Jefferson, Gabriel and Jared Kanik, Marcus and Audriana Kanik, and Leah Kanik; 22 great-grandchildren: Sullivan and Paxton Willyard, Kali Pena, Steven Bishop, Aubrianna and Leona Bishop, Tim Cox, Lance and Troy Horton, Ty and Ashton Wilt, Lia, DJ, David and Luca Hernandez, Michael Hernandez Jr., and Breca Vittitoe, Azra, Ziel and Xane Jefferson; five great, great grandchildren Azalea, Kalianna, Sophia, Rosabelle, and Alejandro.

Norma was extremely proud of her Cherokee Indian heritage. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends and loved crocheting for them. Each Christmas she gifted everyone with booties, beanies, and if you were really lucky… flower earmuffs. Not only did she crochet for her family, but also she donated many crocheted items to her church for the ill and homeless. She retired from Nueces County as a data processor supervisor in 1989, and moved to Temple, Texas, with her family.

The family will receive family and friends on Monday, November 4, 2019 from 4-7pm at Heritage Funeral Home. Viewing ceremony will be held from 4-6pm and the Pastor will arrive at 6pm for short service. The address is 425 E. Central Texas Expressway, Harker Heights, Texas. The burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
