Robert C. Coyne LTC, USA RET, 80, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 20, 2021. Services are pending at the moment.
Robert was born on February 14, 1941 to Charles M. Coyne and Mildred T. Magee Coyne in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Matignon High School and married his high school sweetheart after Graduating from West Point Military Academy. Robert served 3 tours in Vietnam and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Silver and Bronze Service Star, Air Medal with V Device, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and The Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry; and numerous other awards. He served 26 years in the US Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He then dedicated his life to education retiring as a principal of Southwest Elementary of Belton, TX. Robert spent many years volunteering with the Citizens on Patrol. He enjoyed woodworking, especially building his Christmas decorations. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed the comradery.
Robert C. Coyne was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mildred Coyne; his wife of 56 years, Patricia A. Coyne; and great granddaughter, Adalynn R. Shugart.
He is survived by son, Martin Coyne of Titusville, Florida; daughter, Patricia Ornstein and husband Alex of New Braunfels, Texas; daughter, Donna Coyne Casteel of Temple, Texas; daughter, Colleen Bottoms and husband James of Harker Heights, Texas; and son, Andrew Coyne and wife Jaime of Montgomery, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sister, Julie Cook and husband Bill of Weatherford, Maine; niece, Heidi Lemay and husband Shane of Riverview, Florida.
