Obituary

Nora Linda Salazar, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 11, 2022.

Nora was born on November 23, 1937 to Homer Mella and Catalina D. Carbonell Mella in Quezon City, Philippines. She left the Philippines at the age of 17 to the United States to attend Mary Crest College in Davenport, Iowa. After College she began raising a family of four girls and two boys. Life eventually brought her back to the Philippines to her mother and shortly after she journeyed on to Guam before settling in Hawaii where she met her husband Pedro Salazar- they wed August 17,1983. A year later they moved to Texas where Nora began working for the Department of Defense at Fort Hood as a transportation coordinator for military personnel and families.

Nora and Pedro continued working and raising their family in Texas. Her family continued to grow by welcoming grandkids, great grandkids and even great-great grandkids. Upon retirement Nora and Pete traveled East to West-New York, to California , to Florida, to New Jersey, then Texas and Chicago, and of course all around Texas! Nora and Pedro eventually moved to Las Vegas to enjoy some of their retirement days playing bingo and enjoying buffet style dinners! Nora eventually moved back to Texas. She considered Texas her home!

Nora enjoyed nothing more than being with her family. She loved hosting holidays at her house and enjoying backyard barbeque. She always looked forward to keeping all the grandkids during their summer breaks, but most importantly Nora loved to visit her Mother in the Philippines and taking her to Bacnotan La Union. She loved spending time there with her Mother! As other relatives visited her and she visited as well.

Nora Linda Salazar was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Catalina Mella; also preceded by her Papang, her grandfather.

Nora is survived by her husband Pedro Salazar as he will continue to cherish her memory and Sister-Susan Yates and children. She is also lovingly remembered by her kids, Cathy, Linda,Bridget, Nancy, William and PJ, grandkids, great grandkids and great-great grandkids along with many close family and friends.
