Maria was unforgettable. She was generous, fashionable, and hardworking. She was full of fire, quick to laugh and always up for a good argument. “Oma” fiercely loved and spoiled her grandchildren. She was an excellent German cook, and she was the chef and owner of Munchner Kind'l German Restaurant in Killeen for 20 years with her husband. She enjoyed shopping, all things food, and gardening.
Maria was a survivor. She grew up in Nazi Germany during WWII. She met her husband, Freddie, in Germany and married on September 17, 1957. She became a US citizen in 1993. She fought and survived breast cancer late in life. Her family fondly remembers her as a “fighter” in all areas of life.
