Obituary

Marcus Landry Myers passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021. Marcus became very ill, went into a coma, and never recovered.

Marcus Landry Myers was born on September 5, 1977, in Fort Carson. Colorado. He attended Smith Elementary School in Baumholder, Germany, Breaux Bridge Primary School, St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Meadows Elementary, Smith Middle School, Nolan MIddle School and Ellison High School in Killeen, Texas. Later, Marcus attended Grambling State University in Grambling, LA, studying Kinesiology.

Marcus loved sports, “a football fanatic,” especially for the New Orleans Saints and the Houston, Texans. Marcus was affectionately known by his friends as, “Droop” and “Droopy.” Marcus had remarkable song writing skills. He was a skilled rapper, talented poet and lyricist.

Family meant everything to him. He prided himself on his Louisiana and South Carolina Heritage. Marcus had many talents, a great vision of life, a beautiful heart and an infectious personality, and definitely a giving spirit.

Marcus worked for several years as a contractor overseas. He was a skilled licensed truck driver, offshore sandblaster/pressure washer, interior painter and a passionate self-starter, creating his own business, “Myers Restoration.”

Marcus was preceded in death by his father James Lewis Myers, aunts Dianna Bey, Emily Sylvester, uncles, Landry Sylvester, Floyd Criswell, Ricardo Edgerson, grandmothers, Yola Davis Sylvester, Willie Eva Danfort Adams, grandfathers, Lartee Myers Sr., and Clovis Sylvester Sr. 

Marcus leaves behind to a cherished memory his mother Margaret Ann Sylvester Myers, a sister Angelique Myers Evans (Jimmy), a brother Julius Xavier Myers, a niece Genesis Naomi Myers, a godmother Louella Stanley (James), a godfather Michael Sylvester, uncles Anthony Myers (Cheryl), Jackie Myers (Carrie Dianna), Michael Sylvester, Lawrence Sylvester (Debra), Clarence Sylvester, James Stanley. Aunts Louella Stanley, Emily Hickson, Agnes Edgerson, Beatrice Myers, Mary Ann Criswell and Doris Young.

Marcus is also survived by his former wife Ebony Barton Myers and a host of beloved, cherished and awesome cousins and friends.
