Jose “Uncle Joe” Guadalupe Ruiz, 92, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2022. A Graveside service will occur on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 9 AM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Jose was born on July 21, 1930 to Adolfo Ruiz and Teresa Saldana in Waco, Texas. At 18 years old, he volunteered to join the Army on December 30, 1948. Joe was a cook for the military and ended his tenure as a Sergeant. He received the Army of Occupation Medal in Germany. Upon his return, he met the love of his life, Winnie Miller in Houston, Texas. Together they enjoyed gardening, their backyard aviary, and the company of their dogs. When Joe moved to Temple, Texas his hobbies included poker, dominoes, feeding the birds, and tending to the chickens. Joe was a lifelong Houston Astros fan and enjoyed watching football and baseball. He was loved by many and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie; his parents, Adolfo and Teresa; five sisters, Luz Torres, Sally Trevino, Susie Ramirez, Maria Romela Ruiz (his twin sister), and Calistra Ruiz; three brothers, Domingo Ruiz, Vidal Ruiz, and Raymond Ruiz; and his step-sons, Hunter and Lucky.
Jose G. Ruiz is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Uncle Joe will be missed by all.
