Johnny Antonia (Tony) McKiver, 56, passed away on August 31, 2021. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday September 7, 2021, at Heritage Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Killeen City Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
Johnny was born on September 12, 1964 to Johnny Lee McKiver and Yvonne Shuler McKiver in Timmonsville, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Lee McKiver; his grandparents Luther and Mamie Shuler.
He is survived by his mother Yvonne McKiver; his brothers Bennett McKiver, Christopher McKiver, Darrell McKiver, Eric McKiver; his sister Fontina Stricklin and his son Peter Thomas. Johnny also had a very large extended family spread from Texas to the east coast.
Johnny traveled extensively as the child of a military father. He graduated from High School in Würzburg, Germany then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Southwest Texas State University where he was also a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. Johnny became a police officer for the Austin Police Department, then the Dallas Police Department where he served for 20 years before his retirement.
After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, spending time with friends and family, watching sports (all/any sports) and sports cars. Johnny will be remembered for his gentle smile and friendly demeanor. He never knew a stranger and most who met him were drawn to him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
