James Carl Smith, 73, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2021. Burial will be at Killeen Memorial Park and Cemetery at 10:00 AM October 14, 2021.
James was born on December 3, 1947, to J.C. Smith and Ora Gladys Cates Smith in Odessa, Texas. He attended Central High School in San Angelo, Texas. During high school and after James was responsible for helping the family make a living. He had two paper routes, a garden to feed the family and chickens to keep. James had a green thumb; he could make things grow in the West Texas dirt. James was a bar tender for a long time and then became self employed refurbishing old appliances and reselling them. He was always very social had a vivacious character and could bring out the best in people. He taught his little sister how to dance. They loved country and old Rock and Roll. In his spare time, he gardens for enjoyment and had a beautiful flowers and lawn. He loved his family dearly and will be missed. James and his sister, Aleatha were very close their whole lives.
James was preceded in death by his parents; J.C. and Gladys Smith; his brother, John Smith; his brother, Claudie Dale Short.
He is survived by his sister, Aleatha May Guerin; his nephew, Michael D. Puryear; and his cousins and friends.
