James H. Hogan Sr., 86, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 11, 2020. Visitation will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Heritage Funeral Home 425 E. Central Texas Expressway Harker Heights, Texas. Funeral Services at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 19,2020 at Heritage Funeral Home with burial to follow at Killeen Memorial Park 3516 Lake Road Killeen, Texas.
James was born on April 10, 1934 to Lester Hogan and Foye Reeves Hogan in Coffee Springs, Alabama. He grew up as a hard worker on his parents’ farm. James joined the United States Army in 1960. He was a very highly decorated soldier who worked his way up from the bottom, “from Private to Major.” James was an aircraft pilot and flew bombers and fixed wing and rotor in Vietnam and Korea. He retired honorably after 20 plus years of service for his country. After the Army James in the 1970’s moved his family to Dallas, Texas and earned a degree in Accounting. He then went on to become a successful Insurance claims adjuster, afterwards he retired peacefully to Kempner, Texas. James enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, he used to say, “the closest he felt to God is when he was fishing on the lake.”
James H. Hogan, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Foye Hogan; brother, Bobby Wayne Hogan.
He survived by his wife, Kimiko Shimojo Hogan; daughter, Susan Nina Garner; son, James Hogan Jr.; grandchildren: Colby James Garner, Kimiko Nichole Vandermolen, Ashley Dawn Hogan, James Huey Hogan III; his sister, Shirley Howell.
