Dorothy Mae Lake, Dodie, passed away peacefully with her son, Christopher, at her side Thursday, September 17, 2020. Dodie was born in Akron, Colorado on December 20th, 1934. Dodie spent many years traveling as a devoted army wife while taking care of her six children. She was stationed in Germany, Oklahoma, and then retired in Texas. Dodie volunteered at the hospital in Seneca Kansas, the Lady’s Altar Society at church, Nemaha Valley High School, and spent countless hours helping Roy with his classroom after he started a career in teaching. She was a member of the wives of the 11th Airborne association.
Dodie was married to the love of her life, Roy Lake, for 45 years. They both enjoyed watching baseball! She was a fan of St. Louis Cardinals and also enjoyed watching her favorite football players, both Manning brothers. She loved reading, watching movies, crafting, and most of all, spending time with her six children and their families.
She is survived in death by her six children, Daughter and Son-in law Cindy and Phillip Harrison, Daughter and Son-in law Beverly and Larry Justice, Daughter Barbara Bickle, Daughter Margaret Coffee, Son and Daughter-in law Ron and Julie Widman, and Son and Daughter-in law Christopher and Ruth Lake. She had 12 grandchildren; Christina, Jennifer, Andrea, Katlyn, Ally, Jessica, Justin, Jack, Rachel, Clarissa, Arrianna, and Brendon; 7 great-grandchildren; Daly, Harper, Josie, Callie, Kayla, Lydia, Maya, and Benjamin. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roy Lake. Her precious Son-in law, Wayne Coffee passed away two days after her.
