Delbert R. Musgrave

March 2, 1936 ~ February 24, 2020 (age 83)


Delbert Ray Musgrave, son of the late Clarence E. Musgrave and Mary Delores Thummel Musgrave was born March 2, 1936 Oberlin, Kansas. He was one of six siblings.

He met and married the love of his life Liselotte Jankie on July 27, 1961 in Munich Germany. They had 58 glorious years of marriage.

Delbert entered the United States Army as a Construction Machine Operator (62N) and a secondary Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) Engineer Equipment Repairman (62B). His military career spanned the course of more than twenty-one years, consisting of tours not limited to Vietnam, Germany and Korea. As a decorated soldier his awards include: Vietnam Service Medal w/1Silver Service Star; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm; National Defense Service Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster; Good Conduct Medal; Bronze, Clasp, 5 Loops; Sharpshooter(Rifle); Driver/Mechanic Badge w/Driver Bar(W).

Community involvement consisted of devotion to Disabled American Veterans Chapter 29, Harker Heights Texas of 35 years with concentration on recruitment of members that netted him three time DAV National Recruiter of the year and induction into the National Hall of Fame team and award of the Hall of Fame Pin with three diamonds.  He was integral part of the number one fundraiser Forget Me Not.  The administrator for DAV 29 transportation program transporting veterans via the DAV shuttle van, with pick locations in Copperas Cove, Killeen and Harker Heights, Texas to their respective appointments at Central Texas Veteran Health Care System (CTVHCS), Temple, Texas some thirty miles away. He was also The American Legion Post 223 and VFW Post 3892.

On the evening of February 24, 2020 Delbert Ray Musgrave peacefully exited this earthly realm to enter life’s dimension.

Among those members of his family who preceded his departure are:  His parents Clarence E. Musgrave and Mary Delores Musgrave. Among those who are left to cherish the honor of his love and legacy are: his loving and devoted wife, Liselotte Musgrave: son, Robert E. Musgrave of Denver, Colorado; siblings, Don Musgrave (Jean) of Portland, Oregon, Dallas Musgrave (Rosalee) of Lady Lake Florida, David Musgrave (Carole) of Lenexa, Kansas, Danny Musgrave of Arvada, Colorado, Deloris Berland (Stephen) of Manhattan, Kansas: and a host of other near and dear loved ones and friends.
