Clarence James Carpenter, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 6, 2021. Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday November 17, 2021 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Sgt. Carpenter will be laid to rest with honors.
Clarence was born on November 30, 1949, to Lynn Carpenter and Mary Louise Smith Carpenter in West Palm Beach, Florida. He served in the United States Army and left basic training to serve in Vietnam from 1966-1969. He concluded his service as a Sergeant. After the Army he worked as a superintendent in the concrete field in Virginia where he met his wife, Cynthia in 1979. They were married on October 5, 1985, moved back to Florida where they had one daughter Crystal in 1988. Clarence loved the beach, being on a boat, and fishing. After retiring as a Disabled Veteran, he got into raising cattle as a hobby. Crystal and her husband Stephen, named their ranch after Clarence and it’s called C&H Ranch of Gatesville, Texas.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn, and Mary Louise Carpenter; his son, Joshua Carpenter; his brother, William Carpenter and his brother-in-law, James Minor.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Carpenter; his daughter, Crystal Hadley, and husband Stephen; his grandchildren, Samantha, and Grayson Hadley; his sisters, Betty Minor and Eva Hayes; his brother, Ray Carpenter and blessed with nieces, nephews, other surviving family members and friends.
