American Veteran 01

Christinea Rose Baker

July 13, 1961 ~ January 28, 2021 (age 59)

It is with deep sorrow and much adoration that we mourn the passing of Christinea Rose Baker, loving wife and mother of three children, on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the age of 59.  Christy was born on July 13, 1961 in Marion, Indiana to Gene Francis McClintick and Anna Lou Baldwin.

Christy was a warrior at heart serving 33 years in the armed forces.  In 1980, she joined the Army National Guard and later exceeded her strong sense of duty and abilities by joining the U.S. Army full time in 1993.  She retired as Sergeant First Class (SFC) in 2013. Christy took great pleasure in the quality of her work and was beyond doubt a brave, dedicated, and loyal soldier. She gained a reputation for being exceptionally supportive, patient, compassionate, nurturing, and creative.  She earned countless achievements during her time in the armed forces.

Christy’s desire to protect and serve was only an extension of her robust character.  She cared deeply about her family, friends, and community.  She spent many years volunteering and fostering for animals shelters, providing a safe, healthy environment for pets in order to increase their adoptability.  The mutually beneficial and dynamic relationship between herself and animals permeated the hearts of people.  Christy’s desire to nurture and protect along with her need for companionship and love touched the most intimate parts of our hearts.

In addition to Christy’s natural ability to emotionally connect with the experiences of others, she had an innate ability to create, actively seeking new or interesting ways to make things. Her hobbies including baking, sewing, and designing and manufacturing bird toys. Christy also frequently enjoyed the serenity and calmness of fishing, gardening, and landscaping.

She will be missed by her husband of 27 years, Justin; children, Steven, Christopher, and Matthew; brother, Michael; sisters, Tina, Bonnie, and Michelle; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews as well as extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Christy’s family requests donations made to your local animal shelter in her name.
