Obituary

William M. Reynolds, age 76 of Salado, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on July 13, 1943 in Baxley, Georgia the son of Guss and Gladys (Lawrence) Reynolds Ogburn.

As a child, he grew up in Macon, Georgia and entered the United States Army in 1961 at the age of 18 after graduating from Lanier High school. He served three years as an enlisted soldier from 1961 to 1964. A year later, he re-enlisted for the warrant officer flight candidate program and took basic flight training at Fort Wolters, Texas and graduated as a Warrant Officer (W-1) in 1966 at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Warrant Officer Reynolds served two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. While serving in Vietnam in 1967, he received direct commission as second lieutenant field artillery. During his Army career, he served in many locations throughout the United States and overseas. He graduated from Emery Riddle University with a degree in aeronautical technology. His military awards include Master Army Aviator, Silver Star, Purple Heart, 6 Distinguished Flying Crosses, Bronze Star with V device, air medals with V device, and army commendation medals with V device. After 20 years, he retired from the United States Army as a Major and then continued to work for the United States Army as a civilian for another 20 years. He retired from government service in 2004.

Mr. Reynolds is survived by his loving wife, Julie; sons, William Reynolds Jr. and Justin King; daughters, Regina Green, Christie Griffis and Joy Lozada; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; a brother Zim Ogburn and a sister, Dawn Brown, along with numerous other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday January 2, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Harker Heights. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, at 2:00 PM with full military honors. In lieu of flower those wishing may make a donation in Bill's memory to St Jude Children Hospital www.stjude.org.
